Looked after by the National Trust, Shaw’s Corner was once the home of George Bernard Shaw. Famous as a political activist and Irish playwright, Shaw was said to be the most photographed person in the globe throughout his life from 1856 to 1950. The picturesque house is immaculately preserved, and you can tour it for a small fee.

Someries Castle is another great place to visit. Constructed in the 15th century, the scheduled ancient monument is located just outside of Luton. The founder of the castle, Sir John Wenlock, is said to haunt the castle ruins to this day.

The St Mary’s Church in Luton is over 850 years old. While some of its traditional features remain, the church has been carefully restored over the years. The bell tower is one of the newest additions, added in the 20th century. There are no set opening times but you can check on the church’s website to see the days it is open. These are just some of the places of interest you’ll want to visit while you’re in Luton. Why not explore all the town has to offer in the back of a luxury hire car?
